TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger point injections are a medical treatment used to relieve pain in areas of muscle tightness or “knots” called trigger points. These trigger points can develop in muscles and fascia, often causing localized pain or referred pain to other areas. The injection typically contains a local anesthetic, sometimes combined with a corticosteroid, to reduce inflammation and relax the muscle.
The procedure involves inserting a small needle into the trigger point to deactivate it and alleviate pain. Trigger point injections are commonly used to treat conditions such as myofascial pain syndrome, tension headaches, and other musculoskeletal issues. They provide relief by relaxing tight muscle bands, improving blood flow, and reducing pain signals in the affected area.
